Things Every Aspiring Florist Should Become Aware Of

By Harold Cooper

Floristry is an exciting field of endeavor because of its creative side. Everyday florists create different types of flower decorations for people's distinct needs. Floristry however is not one-hundred percent creativity. This also requires the mastery of the principles of flower decoration and arrangement for florists to create a satisfying outcome.

So what does it take for a florist to achieve a successful floristry feature? With respect to design elements and principles, there are three factors that florists take into account in order for the project to be successful. These include the design itself, the setting and the theme.

In floristry, design refers to how materials are chosen and used to their best advantage. Design has four components and it includes the following: colors, shape, form and texture. Aside from these four components, other important elements that must reflect in any floral arrangement are the following: harmony, contrast, balance, rhythm, dominance and proportion. These elements are all important in the whole process of doing a flower arrangement that is pleasing to the senses.

Texture refers to the substance of the design. This element of design enhances the visual impact of the flower arrangement. It is of two types: actual and visual. The latter means people can "feel" the texture through their memory, thus reminding them whether the material is soft, spiky, or rough.

The thought of creating a budget plan can be perceived as a limitation by most florists. Every floristry feature that florists want to accomplish has its corresponding monetary costs. Hence financial planning is crucial. Resourceful florists can still create unique and professional floral designs as long as their budget plans are feasible and their creative goals are clear and perfect for the budget.

Prioritizing customers' requests is also necessary. Florists offer different floral arrangements not only to pursue creative interests but also to help brides have their dream wedding bouquet, make someone feel special and loved, send some comfort, or simply brighten ones day. Florists also play an important role in helping people express affection for a deceased loved one.
