They normally have deadbolt locks for added security. Hinges may be recessed as well. They have a certain degree of beauty, but are usually less so than others.

If the purpose is only to keep out weather and animals, a more utilitarian model may be sued. They are not as sturdy as those for security, nor as beautiful as those designed for decoration because they are not intended to be seen by outsiders. These doors are usually the least expensive of all others. Interior doors are usually of this type. They are designed to give privacy and define boundaries, not for any other purpose.

Solid wood, with its natural beauty, without any added decorations, is often used to make decorative, doors. However, many decorative styles are made from panels that are decorated with carving or glass features. They may include decorative metal accents such as handles and pulls, knockers, and other embellishments. There are combinations of wood, glass, metal and accents that should suit any taste.
