There are many varieties of hanging wine racks that are on the market today that range in price from a little over twenty dollars to over one hundred dollars, depending on the materials and the decorative nature of the rack. These DIY wine rack plans require some competency by the person using them since the boards have to be cut to certain sizes and need to be put together in a certain way. People who are not familiar with woodworking will often not be able to follow through with the DIY wine rack plans since they will not have the tools or will not have the knowledge needed to complete the steps in the plans. For those that have the know-how, these DIY wine rack plans are not complicated in most cases and provide an easy project for a weekend's fun.

The DIY wine rack plans come in different styles and variations to fit the use and design that the person is seeking. There are some that are made to preserve the kitchen space and keep the bottles and glasses out of the way but available for use. There are hanging DIY wine rack plans in which the wine rack has metal chains or other decorative feature that hooks it into the ceiling above an island or counter in the kitchen.

This wine rack has a vertical holder that stores the bottles in a line down from the ceiling so that the tops of the bottles point in every direction at a forty-five degree angle. The wine opener also often has a spot in these wine racks so that the owner does not have to search through drawers in the kitchen to find the opener to use the wine.

This keeps the cork moist and also prevents the air from getting into the bottle. The top of the shelf usually serves to hold the wine bottles and the glasses and opener hang underneath of it. There are also some corner DIY wine rack plans that are designed to create a small wine rack that fits neatly into a corner space in the kitchen so that it is still out of the way but contains the necessary equipment for enjoying a glass of wine with company. Each of these versions allow the kitchen to function with as much island or counter space as before, yet also gives added storage space to the individuals for wine bottles and glasses.

The bottom of the hanging wine rack has a rack that holds the bottoms of the wine glasses securely in it so that the individuals have both the glasses and wine in one place. These wine racks usually cover entire walls of the room where they are used and often curve around the corners as well so that every inch of space is utilized.
