Amazing Benefits Of Having A Swimming Pool

By Adriana Noton

There are few things that cause a person to feel they've made it like having their own swimming pool . Whether it's built for luxury, adding to the value of a home, or if it's built for necessity and intended for exercise purposes, a custom pool adds just the right touch of sophistication. People have used pools for a very long time and they will definitely have a place in humanity's future.

Roman society often centered around the use of public baths. These were called thermae or balnea. As part of a private estate or centered in a city, the thermae included meeting rooms and libraries, as well as other facilities to bring people together. Bathing in Roman history was very important and could be one of the things humanity's ancestors left behind for the world to maximize on.

Hot water was heated for use in a thermae by boiling the water over a log fire. The water was pumped in from nearby rivers and lakes. However, it wasn't unusual for a bathing house to also draw water from one of the many Roman aqueducts. Water could be used for scalding hot bathing, for steam bathing, and also for frigid baths too.

Public pools get a lot of use, especially in the summer months. Wading pools and other outdoor public swimming areas help to bring communities together. There are often shallow areas for toddlers and deeper areas for older people to play in. Spray parks are also often close by to give people more room for creative and safe water play.

Having a pool in a house is quite the luxury. Many people opt for custom ones built to their specific designs. Having attached Jacuzzis is a big lure, as well as having water features like fountains. The way that a pool is lit is also part of its elegance. Light under the water looks like it glows, and can set the scene for amazing poolside parties.

Endless pools are becoming very popular for all types of people. These are smaller than traditional pools and can be above ground or set into the ground, same as others. They use a constantly generated flow of water to cause a current in the pool. People can adjust this current for their level of difficulty, so they can swim for exercise or for leisure purposes. An endless pool leaves a smaller ecological footprint than a big pool because it doesn't require as much energy, space or resources.

Space tourism will likely put water sports and entertainment to good use. Having a wheel shaped cylindrical room that rotates and causes just enough gravity to allow people to swim in it would be an amazing experience. It may also be necessary for space resorts to offer such forms of exercise, as long space trips can result in a decreased bone mass, something that exercise can prevent.

A good quality swimming pool can be used for either leisurely entertainment or filling the need for exercise. Since ancient Rome, communities have been coming together around bathing and swimming. A pool makes a home look worth its money, and pools will definitely follow mankind into the distant reaches of space.
