Equipment For that Burlesque Performer

By Nina Young

Every occupation has an inventory of products that are needed in order for the job to be done properly. That may be everything from a decent pen for a waiter to take an order, all the way up to a complete set of handyman tools for someone in construction. While performing in a burlesque troupe might not be considered a conventional job by many [*COMMA] the performer still needs a very definite set of accessories in order to draw in the attention of her liking fans, even if the overwhelming majority of those items are going to finish up spread round her stiletto heels.

Burlesque is a live performance art for which has been around a particularly long time and that actually appears to be enjoying something of a renaissance at the moment. The shows feature girls of all shapes and sizes, all of them beautiful in their own way, performing little vignettes that are both comedic and titillating. One visit to a burlesque show and it's easy to understand the appeal, and if you pay very close attention you will see that the quantity of exertion that the ladies put into their appearance goes way beyond the few minutes that they're onstage for every individual piece.

To get a true notion of what's concerned let's take a look at the burlesque accessories that go into making up the beautiful finished article that will finish up on stage. Rugs are commonly used , as well as fascinators that offer a colorful touch to the hair. Burlesque performers regularly sport a pin-up girl style, so it's just simpler to use pieces than to try and change hair styles for each act. Fake eyelashes are also incredibly popular, as are unique, statement pieces of jewelry for the ears and neck.

Maybe the most ornamental piece, and the one that most blokes line up to see, are the tassels and pasties that cover up the, how shall I put it smoothly, more colorful part of the knockers. They can be anything from a simple small cover up to a bright colored tassel that may sway with the girl's movements, typically hypnotizing the entire front row in the procedure.

Satin gloves and fishnet stocking are also common burlesque accessories, but the centerpiece is without question the main outfit. While modern burlesque acts will most likely use regular clothing in their tiny scenes, the more conventional troupes tend to choose brightly colored dresses and corsets that are a throwback to the early days of the art. To close it all off, the final splashes of colour are applied using make-up and a killer pair of heels that tend to serve as the exclamation point at the complete costume.

Burlesque is a legitimate art form that deserves leading position among all of the different kinds of live entertainment. Next time that you attend a show, spare a concept for those beautiful girls who spend a lot of time making themselves look like the women of our dreams.
