Podcasts Can Help Online Marketers

By Jane Levy

Podcasting is a powerful promotional mechanism. Audio, with podcasting, is often over-looked by so many online marketers who favor video. You can tap into the millions of people who are still listening to audio. Do you have any ideas as to why this is a fact? As you know, the only requirement is an MP3 player, so it's no problem at all to pass your podcasts around. Podcasts represent the ultimate in portability, and maybe the only other thing that comes close is a book. We want to show you how you how you can be more successful with podcasting.

Prior to doing any recording, you'll find the best results will be obtained by creating an organized plan. But of course it is not necessary to account for everything down to the second of every minute. As long as you have a fairly well-organized plan that serves to present your thoughts clearly. One thing you can do is divide the total amount of time by the topics you want to cover. You could even mix it up between organized content plus more improvised conversation. But you'll find your results may be improved by staying on your topic of discussion. People generally don't care for very long podcasts, so it's important to avoid rambling for too long.

Proper research is so important for the topic of your podcast. Never try to pull a fast one on your listeners because that will backfire pretty badly. Of course you'll need to have facts from good research. When it comes to being online, if you give out false or incorrect information, in certain topical areas, you can encounter some difficulties. Try to verify whatever information you find by looking for other sources that are also reliable. If you plan on discussing matters that are more along the lines of your opinion, then it's a good idea to state that it is opinion.

When you're just beginning, it's really important to get into the habit of regular podcast publishing. Not only is this good for your productivity, it gives people a reason to come back to you on a regular basis. This is so important to creating and developing a strong base of listeners and subscribers. It's all about building a relationship, and letting people know you're dependable and can be trusted. Probably once or even twice a week will work fine.

Podcasting is still a terrific method for publishing content to your target market. It will probably depend on the real value of your content, but some people charge for podcast access and many others do not. There are lots of ways to promote your products, but keep in mind that podcasting reaches millions of people and is powerful. Once you get to the point where your listeners trust you, then you can accomplish a lot with them and yourself. It's really no secret at all to making win/win business relationships.
